Five persons, including a Police Officer, were arrested on Saturday night after they were caught with suspected cannabis in their vehicle. At around 10:30pm Corozal Police intercepted a silver Honda pickup between miles 77 and 78 on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett provided the media with further details.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Corozal police was on operation between miles 77 and 78 on the Philip Goldson Highway when they stopped a silver in color Honda double cab pickup truck at the time being driven by one Stephanie Patnet Sima who is a police officer and she was accompanied by Leidi Hall, Alexia Burns, Ann Marie Burns and a 16-year-old female minor all of Orange Walk Town. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of ten parcels of suspected cannabis weighing a total of 23.4 pounds. Those persons have all been arrested and charged for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug and based on further follow up investigation police also arrested a male person known as Berris Anglin, 42 years of an an Orange Walk Town address jointly along with those persons. Well as you are aware whenever police officer commit infractions the police department is not one to push those infractions under the rug but those persons are charged and are brought to face whether it be disciplinary or criminal charges.”
