Flags to be Flown at Half-Mast to Symbolize Condolence with the People of Haiti

The Government of Belize has announced that on Friday July twenty-three all Belizean flags are to be flown at half-mast, as a symbolic gesture of condolence to the people of Haiti. The gesture is to coincide with the funeral service of the late Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, who will be laid to rest in the port city of Cap-Haitien (kap- hai-see-en). The gesture will also be carried out by other Caribbean Communities who will be flying all national and CARICOM standard flags at half-mast. The release also notes that the Government and people of Belize express condolences to the late President’s wife, Martine Moïse and her children, the extended family and friends, and the people of Haiti during their time of mourning. Moïse served as Haiti’s president from February 2017 up until his death on July 7, 2021.
