Flood warnings remain in effect for rivers in the south

A flood warning remains in effect for rivers in the southern part of Belize. The National Hydrological Service’s warning today said that rivers including the Temash, the Sarstoon and Rio Grande are closely being watched those areas are at flood stage. Principal Hydrologist, Tennielle Hendy discussed the situation with our newsroom.

In addition to that, Hendy says communities near the Swasey and Bladden branches of the Monkey River should also be vigilant.

Today’s forecast added that the Moho River at Blue Creek South is also flooded. Even though the level is below the bridge, river levels there are rising. Conversely, the levels at Jordan are approaching flood stage and falling as is the Temash River at Crique Sarco. The Sarstoon River is at flood stage and rising tonight.
