Flooding in Belize Rural North Displaces Families and Cuts Off Communities

Tonight, three families from the Belize Rural North area are displaced after water swept into their homes forcing them to seek alternative shelter. As the influx of floodwaters from the Macal and Mopan Rivers push down into the Belize District, residents are seeing their yards, bridges, and farms inundated. In one scenario, a community has been cut off from the main highway while other villages are on standby to see where the flood waters will travel. Reporter Vejea Alvarez traveled to the Belize Rural Valley area today and shared his experience with us.
