Floria’s Southern Bus Routes Hang in the Balance: Uncertainty Over Permits as Deadline Approaches

Floria’s southern bus runs are expected to end on Sunday, but tonight, we have received unconfirmed reports that the company will remain on the road. Last month, the high court ruled to quash the company’s road service permits for its runs to Dangriga, Punta Gorda, and Independence because the Transport Board had not followed the proper procedures when issuing the permits. The Board was given up until December 10th to properly re-issue the permits, but our newsroom understands that it had applied to the courts to extend the permits, which would see them expire at the end of the month. The department’s request was on the basis that all permits would expire at the end of the month, which would provide them with enough time to make an adequate decision. However, on Thursday, Minister of Transport Rodwell Ferguson was tight-lipped about the situation and said the matter was before the Attorney General’s ministry.
