Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala visit OAS Adjacency Zone Office

This morning Foreign Affairs Minister Wilfred Elrington visited the OAS Adjacency Zone Office along with his Guatemalan counterpart Sandra Jovel, for the inaugural ribbon cutting of the Promoting a Culture of Peace art exposition. The Foreign Ministers were joined by the Special Representative for the Secretary-General of the OAS for Belize and Guatemala, Washington Abdala. The diplomatic delegations of both countries held a bilateral meeting and discussed the development of community projects along the border. They also discussed preparations with respect to each country’s referendum to take the territorial, insular and maritime dispute to the International Court of Justice. Elrington was accompanied by Ambassador of Belize to Guatemala, Alexis Rosado and Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture Jose Alpuche. The Opposition, People’s United Party was represented by Area Representative for Cayo North East, Orlando Habet.
