Former Building Poslow to be Renamed

Following the protest that occurred earlier this week, the Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project announced that they will be having a competition to determine the new building’s name. The idea to keep the Paslow name received a lot of negative responses, hence the call for suggestions.  Proposed names will be evaluated and will be published for online voting polls on September 16 – 30. First, second and third prize winners will receive $800, $600 and $400 respectively. Persons entering are asked to send in proposed site name, name, email address and a short description of why you chose that name.  The formerly dubbed, Paslow Building was burnt down in 2002 and is construction has begun for a replacement at the corner of Queen and North Front Streets. The building will consist of a tourist welcome center and vending booth at the first floor and offices and café at the second. The project is being funded by the Government of Belize and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund.///////
