Former Foreign Ministers join call for an end to Israel’s siege

Former Foreign Minister of Belize have joined the call for an end to the Israel-Hamas war.  Today, the former ministers Assad Shoman and Godfrey Smith issued a joint statement, also condemned Israel’s indiscriminate carpet bombing in Gaza which has killed more than eight thousand people including over three thousand children. The former ministers noted that Israel’s actions, such as the destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure, are clear violations of international law. They note that in the past seventeen years of the illegal blockade of Palestine, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in military operations and tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed. The former ministers say that they join the call in demanding that Israel immediately cease all bombing in Gaza, reinstate the provision of light, water, and other services that the Palestinians are being deprived of, assume the responsibility of reconstructing damaged civilian infrastructure and end its occupation of Palestine. They also call on Israel to respect the Palestinian peoples’ right to self-determination.
