Love FM’s first and former News Director has transitioned.  Rene Mendez passed away on Christmas Eve in Corozal where he resided.  Mendez was the first News Director for Love FM when it opened its doors in 1993.  He had migrated from the Broadcasting Corporation of Belize (BCB).  Love FM’s CEO, Dr Rene Villanueva, paid tribute to Mendez today on The Morning Show.

Rene Villanueva Sr, Host, The Morning Show: “When I heard that on Christmas Day, it was like, wow. Condolences to his family, to Amini, to his daughter and to all the family, his family and friends. Condolences on the passing of René Mendez. As you know he worked in the media. He worked here for a long time. As a matter of fact he worked at the BCB. He was a young man who came out of school, I think and I was Chief Broadcasting Officer and I remember interviewing him and giving him his break at the then Radio Belize. You know, and he stayed there. And then when we started Love FM a year or so after we started he came across, migrated to Love FM and became the news director. When he got married I was the best man at his wedding. I always remember that when he and Amini got married. We feel the loss of a colleague. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.”

Rene Mendez was 58-years-old.
