Former PM of St.Lucia offers words of admiration for Opposition Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow

Leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow, is expected to return home today following a visit to St Lucia over the weekend.  Barrow travelled to the island at the invitation of former Prime Minister Allan Chastanet who is now seeking another term in office.  This weekend saw a grand event for the Chastanet’s endorsement where Barrow delivered an address.  Prior to Barrow taking the stage, Chastanet spoke on his admiration for and friendship with Barrow.

Allan Chastanet, Former Prime Minister, St.Lucia: “When I met Shyne, I met a young guy who has a heart of gold. A man who believes in developing people. A man that when he’s moving forward and is being successful is always looking back to bring everybody with him. And he’s chosen a path to help the prosperity and the development of his country in Belize. But this is a man that was given an opportunity in life to develop a perspective that not many politicians have. The perspective of being a young person on the verge of international success and that success did not come easy. He had to do it the hard way and he was on the verge and the Lord had a different story for him. And instead of giving up and having hatred in his heart he took the message and developed himself even further. And has understood what is happening to young people not only in his country but in the world. And I’m so proud to say that he is my friend. I am so encouraged and excited to see what contributions that he is going to make when he’s the next Prime Minister of Belize. I think that Belize and St.Lucia and the Caribbean is going to be much better off by having a young man that has had that kind of experience in his life and has the opportunity to open many doors for us.”

Opposition Leader departed the country last Friday for the event.
