Former Police Corporal Requests Honors for Funeral

Police Corporal Rudy Melendez was in the Belize Police Department for 21 years. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer recently, and was declared unfit to continue working in April this year. Love News understands that Melendez has been sent home with pain medication as there is not much more that the doctors can do for him as his cancer is at an advanced stage. His last request, however, is that he be buried with Police honors. It is a strange request, considering that he is no longer an active member of the department. The family has written to the Police Commissioner and the Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa but they are yet to get an official response. The matter was posed to Musa this morning on The Morning Show.

Melendez has asked to not be placed on any machines or to be resuscitated.
