The announcement was made via an internal memo from the Commissioner of Police to all Commanders at the various formations across the country. Of the forty men and women on the list, four have been elevated to Senior Superintendent, and five to Acting Senior Superintendent, including Juanito Cocom, Gerald Jones, Alejandro Cowo and Glen Rivero. Seven officers have risen to the post of Superintendent including Brent Hamilton and Aaron Gamboa. There are thirteen new Acting Superintendents including Jerome Stephens, Denroy Barrow, Elroy Carcamo, and Hector Rodriguez. For the post of Assistant Superintendent, there were only two promotions, namely Samuel Bonilla and Roberto Novelo. The other nine officers were promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police. All forty promotions are retroactive to March 15, 2023….. And, while police officers are celebrating a milestone in their career, there are sixty young men and women who are being tested and tried to become a part of the Belize Coast Guard. Commandant of the Belize Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Elton Bennett, told Love News that it is not an easy training as at least twenty recruits have since given up.
