Forum on multi-sectoral approach to crime and violence Held

Today, the Belize Police Department, the Department of Youth Services, and the University of the West Indies Open Campus Belize partnered to hold a forum on the government’s multi-sectoral approach to crime and violence. The purpose of the forum was to gather feedback from the various stakeholders involved ahead of the official launch of the multi-sectoral crime prevention and crime control plan. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr Richard Rosado, who was a speaker at the event, spoke about the importance of promoting the government’s new approach to crime-fighting.

Dr Rosado further explained that a major component of the plan includes working to change the traditional mindset of police officers. He says that the cop’s authoritarian approach to crime is no longer being accepted.
