Four Men Found Guilty of Manslaughter in Trio Village Incident

Four men who were on trial for murder were found guilty for manslaughter in court yesterday.  Sabanito Cal, Tyrone Ba, Arnoldo Xol, and Leonardo Ba appeared before Justice Antoinette Moore yesterday for the ruling.  The four men were on trial for an incident in Trio Village, Toledo District that occurred in April 2017.  According to medical evidence presented in the trial, Garcia sustained a total of six chop wounds, one to the head; two to the back; one to the left hip, and a defense wound to the right forearm.   The incident began as a verbal argument and escalated into a brawl involving Garcia, and two of his surviving friends, Arturo Rax and Arturo Choc.  The reports say that the argument was actually between the four men and Rax and Choc.  Garcia, who was trying to leave the area, fell and subsequently attacked. The trial, held in the Punta Gorda High Court, saw 23 witnesses called by the prosecution, Senior Crown Counsel, Cecil Ramirez.  The men had their own attorneys, namely, Emerita Anderson, Ronnell Gonzalez, Oscar Selgado, and Leroy Banner.  Sentencing of the men is set for July 5, 2023.
