Four Men Receive Final Disclosure in Taxi Driver Murder Case

Four men accused in the November 4, 2024, murder of taxi driver Shawn Albert Ortiz Campbell received the final 21 pages of disclosure in their case today. (COURT VO 2). Thirty-five-year-old Kyle Domingo, 28-year-old Gasman Jones, 47-year-old Charles Brown, and 23-year-old Police Constable Peter Perez appeared before Chief Magistrate Deborah Rogers. The disclosure package included photographs and DVDs. Their next court date is set for August 26 for a Preliminary Inquiry, or PI. The Chief Magistrate explained the PI process and advised the unrepresented men to inform their attorneys about the date and their intent to make submissions against the case being sent to High Court. The four were initially arraigned and remanded to Belize Central Prison on November 6, 2024, charged with the stabbing murder of Campbell on Jaguar Avenue. Police investigation revealed that around 3:00 AM on November 4, 2024, Campbell and Aston Lewis were leaving Stephens Place after socializing when Campbell was stabbed by one of four men. He was pronounced dead at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital at 4:50 AM. Surveillance footage from Stephens Place reportedly showed the four attackers. While Jones and Brown gave police interviews, Perez declined. Domingo provided both an interview and a cautioned statement to police on November 5.
