35-year-old Frank Smith has an additional charge for an escape to his seven-year sentence. On Wednesday, January 15, 2019, Smith was found guilty of burglary. He was caught red-handed back on March 20, 2018, for a burglary in Hattieville where he stole $375.00 in cash. Today he picked up an additional charge of escape after fleeing from the police when he was taken out of his holding cell at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court to full a bucket of water to flush the toilet after use. He skipped out on his court case, which forced the magistrate to put out a bench warrant for his arrest. The officer in charge of the holding cell set chase after him and was unable to catch up with the escaped prisoner. Within 15 minutes, Smith was back in police custody and facing another criminal charge of escape.
