Six months ago, the Chief Executive Officer for the Corozal Free Zone, Raul Rosado, resigned after serving in that capacity for about eight years. At the time there were speculations that Evan Cowo who is the caretaker for the Corozal Southeast constituency would be his replacement. It turns out, however, that Rosado’s replacement came over a month ago and was installed rather quietly by the Government of Belize. Valentino Blanco was named the new CEO for the Free Zone with effect from March 1, 2017 and with a duration of twelve months. According to the Chairman of the Board for the Free Zone, Gregory Gibson, they received about six applications for the position and had subsequently conducted interviews. Blanco was a part of the public service where he served as a National Ozone Officer in the Department of the Environment.
