Freedom Street Resident Murdered in his Vehicle

A resident of Freedom Street in Belize City is the latest murder victim for 2018.  29 year old Jose Ayala was last seen partying with friends in the Supaul Street area of Belize City. He was blasted multiple times to his face over the weekend inside his Chevrolet Trailblazer. Police found his corpse inside the vehicle on the Philip Goldson Highway. The police told us today that they believe it is a result of disagreements with his associates.

ASP Alejandro Cowo: “On Saturday the 12th of January 2019 just after 1:30 PM police were called to 3 miles Phillip Goldson Highway where upon arrival they observed a white in color Trailblazer facing an Eastern Westward direction and inside of the vehicle police observed the motionless body of a male person who was later identified as that of Jose Manuel Ayala, a Belizean of a Freedom St. address. Upon inspection of his body police saw that he had multiple gunshot wounds to the face area. Initial information that the police has gathered was that Jose Manuel Ayala was seen earlier in the night attending a social event in the Supal area and that is the last time that he was seen alive. Police had detained several persons for questioning and they had to be released because of insufficient evidence. There were some suspected shells found inside of the vehicle. We do not expect that it was a drug-related incident. We suspect that it is something internal amongst those persons in the Jane Usher area.

9 millimeter expended shells were found in the deceased man’s vehicle. Police say Ayala was well known to their department.
