Over a thousand nurses and doctors will be receiving medals in recognition of their upstanding work and dedication during the covid-19 pandemic. The medals will be given by Jex Trophies to uplift and encourage the frontline workers. A representative of the company, Andrew Baird, explained why they decided on this initiative.
Andrew Baird, Vice President, KHMHA Workers Union: “The hard work and all the effort that has been put in by the front line workers and sometimes many cases the type of work that we do goes unnoticed but around this time of COVID-19 pandemic Mr.Reginald Jex of Jex Trophies based in New York with businesses here in Belize decided that the work of the front line workers cannot just go unnoticed and he came up with the idea of award or recognize the front line workers mainly nurses and doctors for the work that they have been doing in this COVID-19 pandemic and this recognition or award is in the form of a medallion like the one I have around my neck. Each nurse that works in the front line as well as doctors that work in the front line throughout the country of Belize in all the regional hospitals and community hospitals will be recognized with one of these medallions for their effort and work that they have been putting in during the COVID pandemic for the country of Belize. I have received good feedback even from the district nurses and doctors that have not yet received their medals the sense of appreciation from them and even the ones have already received was very receptive and welcoming for Mr.Reginald Jex and Jex Trophies to come up with such an initiative.”
So far, frontline workers in Dangriga Town, Stann Creek District, San Pedro Town, and Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District, have received their medals.
