Fruitful young persons awarded

The Department of Youth Services in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Youth held its annual Belize Youth Awards on November 29 at the Belize Civic Centre. Young persons ranging from 14-29 years old were honored for their participation and contribution to the overall achievement of the National Youth Development Policy, Horizon 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

The Department of Youth Services in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Youth held its annual Belize Youth Awards on November 29 at the Belize Civic Centre. Young persons ranging from 14-29 years old were honored for their participation and contribution to the overall achievement of the National Youth Development Policy, Horizon 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). Minister of Education, Patrick Faber addressed the audience and encouraged the youths to keep working hard to develop Belize. Awardees included: Youth in Agriculture was Christian Salazar Jr; Environmental Steward Award, Sonia Rosales; Youth in Entrepreneurship Award, Vianey Blades; Innovation in Technology Award, Belize High School; Young Visual Artist Award, Edgar Gomez; Youth in Journalism Award- Kory Leslie; Young Musician Award- Ian Yacab; Athletic Excellence in the female category was Katie Jones while in the male category was Caanan Smith; finally, Academic Excellence Award was Alexis Guy.
