Fundraiser Planned for Marvi Rivas’ Jaw Surgery at Corn Festival

The friends and family of Marvi Rivas are coming together to raise funds for her upcoming jaw surgery. We reported a few weeks back on Rivas being beaten unconscious with a dumbbell by her partner, David Gomez. Rivas sustained severe injuries and is now in need of medical treatment. Her family now hopes to raise funds for the procedure through the sale of food at the Coconut and Corn Festival in Corozal on August 3rd. The organizers’ goal is to sell 240 plates of Pollo Asado at $10 a plate to raise an estimated $15,000. Joanna Vellos, organizer and friend of Marvi asks the public to support the initiative.

Joanna Vellos, Friend: “We are organizing a fundraiser for Marvi’s jaw surgery. She needs a jaw surgery after what happened to her so we are, friends and her classmates from primary school, college are doing a fundraiser of Pollo Asado which is known as the Pollo Brujo for her because we want to reach the goal of her $15,000 she needs or more it should be but we want to reach $15,000.
