Police are looking into a robbery that occurred on Saturday, November 2 in Belmopan, Cayo District. Correspondent Fem Cruz was at the robbery scene shortly after and filed the following report.
Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: Sometime around 3:30 this past Saturday afternoon, Madison Furniture, situated on Constitution Drive in Belmopan employees were held up at gunpoint and robbed. According to the traumatized office clerk two bandits entered the business establishment armed with guns and knives.
Store Clerk: “Like around 3:30 these two gentlemen walked in the store and one of them had a gun and then the other had a knife and they held us hostage and they demanded whatever we had, whatever possession we had so we handed up the cellphones and what we had and wallet and stuff and yeah. It all happened so fast I couldn’t even see their faces or anything we were just in panic. We were very scared and like I said after they left the police came and then after some time they told us that they recovered our possessions and we got it back. I didn’t see anything but the police said they had like a getaway vehicle so I don’t know like I said we just stayed in the store and I didn’t go outside to see if they got away or how they got away we just stayed in the store and panicked.”
