A seventy-thousand-dollar donation from Fyffes has made a contribution that would allow residents of Red Bank Village, Stann Creek to access free health services in their community under the National Health Insurance Scheme. Yesterday, the banana production company inaugurated a newly renovated clinic to provide greater access to health services for the over three thousand villagers. The company says it poured thousands of dollars into remodeling and expanding the previously unused center. The facility now has two medical consultation rooms, a medication dispensary, separate medical waste disposal, restrooms, and comfortable outdoor and indoor waiting areas. The center will bring medical services directly to the community as a medical team, led by a rural health nurse, will visit on the first Wednesday of each month to provide ongoing care, including child health clinics, routine vaccinations, family planning, and health education. In a release, Fyffes says the project reflects its commitment to the sustainable development of the communities and aligns with its priority focus areas.
