Galen University officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with the Belize Coast Guard (BCG) and Belize Defence Force (BDF) for the university to create professional development courses for military personnel. The signing, which follows months of working group meetings, will see Galen develop a suite of courses for qualifications that will serve recipients even after their military careers conclude. Zain Dueheney, Criminal Justice Program Coordinator at Galen University, said that the courses will also help to build capacity for security officers to improve their service while in uniform.
Signing the MOU this morning was BDF Commander Brigadier General Azariel Lorea and the BCG’s Captain Gregory Soberanis. They both spoke on how the MOU will benefit their officers.
The signing ceremony was held at the Belize Institute of Management in Belize City. Also in attendance were Galen University President Dr. Rene Villanueva and the university’s Provost Dr. Cynthia Eve Aird
