On Saturday, the NGO Garifuna Institute for Research and Indigenous Understanding (GARiU) held a youth progress nest geared at motivating young people. The group aims to provide relevant education services to enhance the social, traditional, and economic upliftment of Garifuna people. The progress nest program was geared at building human capacity among youth from Siene Bight and Georgetown. GARiU’s founder, Dr. Enita Barrett, who is Cognitive behaviour Specialist, explained how the program assists youth in their educational journey.
Stann Creek correspondent, Harry Arzu, spoke to Nelijah Obrien, one of the participants about her experience in the program.
