Gender-Sensitive Entrepreneurship Training Empowers Women and Men in Belize

Gender-Sensitive Entrepreneurship Training Empowers Women and Men in Belize

By all accounts, the newest trend has been breaking gender norms and barriers. The International Labor Organization (ILO) held a five-day gender-sensitive entrepreneurship training program called Gender and Entrepreneurship Together (GET Ahead). It was designed to educate women and men with the basic numeracy or literacy skills needed for businesses to flourish. In honor of completing the training, the participants gathered on July 7th in the City of Belmopan for their certificate award ceremony. Joshua Pott, a participant representing the Chamber of Commerce industry, highlighted the new-found knowledge that can now be offered back to an even wider range of new business owners.

The training was for both men and women with the aim of breaking the gender gap and providing knowledge of the essential skills new entrepreneurs need.
