George Gabb Award Winner Carl Gordon Showcases Wood Sculptures in Exhibit

The work of this year’s recipient of the George Gabb Award for Visual Art, Carl Gordon, will be featured in a new exhibit at the Bliss Center for Performing Arts. The exhibition entitled “Tangle Wood” features several creative wood sculptures crafted by Gordon, who recently received the award as a part of this year’s Belize at 42 celebrations. Gordon has been working with wood for the past four decades and says his inspiration as an artist comes from everyday Belizean life and culture. Today, he spoke to Love News about the one-week display, which opens for public viewing tomorrow night.

Gordon says that his artworks have deep messages behind them and take months to complete. He also explained the meaning behind two of his latest pieces “Black Struggle” and “Emancipation from Slavery”.

The exhibition opens tomorrow night at 7 o’clock at the Bliss Center for Performing Arts.
