The Gift of Life clinic is a semi-annual event that assists children with congenital heart diseases. The clinic, which has been occurring for over 20 years, works with these children to determine diagnosis as well as treatment options. The clinic, which was developed by members of the Rotary Club of Belize in collaboration with the Rotary Club in Omaha, Nebraska, was back in the country today. Jeff Delaney, the Pediatric Cardiologist from Omaha told us how the program works.
One of the Rotarians that work with the clinic, Yvette Burks, told us more about how and why the clinic came to be.
We also spoke to two of the clinic’s patients, who told us how it impacted their lives.
While the clinic detects heart diseases in children, it continues to treat them well into adulthood, if necessary.
