Glendford Grant who was initially charged with the murder of his 80-year-old father, Clifton Grant was indicted and read a single charge of manslaughter today in court. This afternoon in the courtroom of Justice Colin Williams, Grant was advised by his attorney, Audrey Matura to plead guilty to the lesser charge. His guilty plea was accepted by the court and the DPP’s Prosecutor, Shanice Lovelle read out the facts of the case in court which was accepted by the defense. Allegations are that Grant attacked his father causing major injuries to his head on May 14, 2010 at their home in Belize City. An examination on the elderly man certified he died from head trauma. As a result, his son was charged with murder and remanded to the Belize Central Prison. Glenford Grant has been on remand for a decade.  Justice Colin Williams has deferred sentencing to February 26 as the court is awaiting a Prison report, and victim impact assessment before a   sentence can be handed down. Mitigation plea will also be heard on behalf of the convict about his good character.
