Glenfield Dennison Set to Be Sworn In as Union Senator

Attorney Glenfield Dennison is preparing to be sworn in as the next union Senator.  Love News understands that he was briefed by the Special Select Senate committee on Monday after having received his instrument of appointment last week.  The 39-year-old was duly elected to succeed Senator Elena Smith in February at an election led by the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB).  Dennison is yet to take his Oath of Office.  It is anticipated that he will be sworn in before the next sitting of the Special Senate Select Committee scheduled for May 5.  The oath is ordinarily administered by the President of the Senate, Carolyn Trench-Sandiford.  Attorney Dennison, recently, was serving as the Vice Chair of the People’s Constitution Commission which he had to give up due to his senatorial appointment.  He has, however, retained his post as a prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
