GOB and partners launch the National Gender Equality Index Survey

Belize is not well-known for having comprehensive statistics or data.  As a matter of fact, outside the usual data collected by the Statistical Institute of Belize, there is not much more to report on.  It is on this backdrop that the Love Foundation, the National Women’s Commission, and the US Embassy have come together to launch a study on gender equality in Belize. Today, the organizations launched the National Gender Equality Index Survey. The study will look at gender disparities in economic and social life in order to chart a part forward to eliminate gender inequality. Reporter Vejea Alvarez was there and tells us more.

Results of the first round of surveys are expected to be released by July this year
