The Office of the Attorney General along with the National Environmental Appraisal Committee (NEAC) and the Department of the Environment are seeking to get the Supreme Court to strike out the claims brought by Stake Bank Enterprises Limited. The virtual court session got underway this morning before Justice Lisa Shoman where Attorneys Glenn Godfrey and William Lindo Junior responded to the matter on behalf of Stake Bank. Love News understands that the government filed the application on the grounds that the claim by Stake Bank was not filed within the 14-day limit required. The claim by Stake Bank has to do with the permissions granted by NEAC to Port of Magical Belize to pursue the next phase of their developments. The matter has reached the court as Stake Bank is now trying to get the court’s intervention to cancel the approval. The government is now countering that application by saying that Stake Bank took too long to file the claim. Love News understands that several other parties are supporting the government’s application including Waterloo Investments and Belize Logistics Terminal Limited. Justice Shoman will render a ruling on Thursday morning. We will keep following the case.
