GOB to Meet with the NTUCB Provide Update on Public Finances

The Government of Belize has scheduled a meeting with the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) to provide an update on the current state of public finances. An invitation letter was sent to the union President, Luis Martinez, last week, inviting him to nominate two union representatives to sit on what has been dubbed, the Social Partnership Advisory Committee. The committee is slated to meet on Friday, November 12 at a venue to be determined. In addition to the two union members, the committee consists of one representative for the Council of Churches; one for the Belize Association of Evangelical Churches; one from the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry; one from the Belize Business Bureau; two representatives from the Belize Network of NGOs as well as Prime Minister John Briceno; Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde; Education Minister, Francis Fonseca; Minister of Public Service, Henry Usher and Minister of State in Finances, Christopher Coye.
