Government Approves Funds for Annual Christmas Cheer Program Across Constituencies

In the spirit of Christmas, the Government of Belize has approved a disbursement of funds for the annual Christmas Cheer program for constituencies around the country. The program uses government funds to provide social assistance to those in need and as the name implies spread some cheer for the holiday season. Prime Minister John Briceno said that, since the assistance largely benefits children, funds will be made available to both sides of the political divide.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “The monies was approved so that every constituency including the UDP will get a certain amount of money based on the amount of registered voters that they have and that will allow us to be able to provide a little bit of help to the needy, a few parties for the children, Christmas is for the kids and to make it fun and happy for them. So we have approved that it was approved in the National Assembly.”
