Government Issues Warning on Illegal Boledo and Jackpot Sales, Threatens Penalties

The government is sending a stern warning to persons involved in the illegal sale of Boledo and Jackpot. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment has received information on several illegal lottery sales. The ministry is monitoring the unauthorized operations and says action will be taken against the offenders. GOB reminds the public that only persons or businesses that obtain a license or have been appointed as an agent by the Lotteries Committee can promote, sell, hold, or conduct bolero lottery, ordinary lottery, or jackpot lottery. Additionally, the ministry says it is illegal to alter a lottery ticket or sell a ticket that has been altered and is not in the form authorized by the Lotteries Committee. GOB notes that first-time offenders can face fines between ten and twenty thousand dollars or be sentenced to one to two years in prison. Repeat offenders can face up to a fifty thousand dollar fine and/or imprisonment of up to five years.
