Government Lotteries Committee Addresses Technical Glitches, Assures Smooth Boledo Sales Tonight

While many missed out on participating in yesterday’s lottery draw due to a reported overload of the ticket system, some are wondering if there will be a repeat of glitches for tonight’s Boledo sales.  According Janelle Espat, the Managing Director of Government Lotteries Committee, the matter has been addressed.

Janel Espat, Managing Director, Belize Government Lotteries Limited: “The developers expected that the demand was going to be high but they were not prepared for the record sales that took place on Sunday and as a result of that the demand on the server was much greater than they had anticipated. And so that is what caused the system to malfunction but the system has already been moved to a much larger server and they have assured us that the issue will not reoccur.”

Reporter: And I do understand that there were some issues in terms of persons who say they won and when they tickets were scanned it was not corresponding.
Janel Espat, Managing Director, Belize Government Lotteries Limited: “That I know of there were a couple reports of that but what had happened is that they winning numbers had not been processed through the system yet and so those persons when they went to collect their ticket it showed up as if it was no a winner but they returned within a few minutes and the tickets were validated and the payments were made.”

Sales figures for yesterday’s Sunday lottery were unavailable by news time tonight.
