Government Lotteries Committee Warns Against Using Boledo Draw for Raffles: Violators Face Legal Consequences

The Government Lotteries Committee is putting raffle organizers on warning that the Boledo draw should not be used to determine winning numbers for raffles.  A release issued today, noted that no person shall promote or conduct any lottery or raffle (any scheme for distribution of prizes by lot or chance) unless they obtain a license or a letter of authorization for the raffle in accordance with the Lotteries Control Act, Chapter 151 of the Laws of Belize.  For those who want to operate a raffle or lottery in this manner, should apply in writing to the Lotteries Committee.  Any violation of the Lotteries Control Act and its regulations is an offence. Violators may be liable on summary conviction in a court of law.
