Government minister defies Police’s campaign regulations

San Ignacio Police were forced to act yesterday when a UDP Standard Bearer and his supporters were caught on camera gathering at a location with no social distancing protocols. On the heels of the images posted on social media the Police Commissioner issued a release reminding all politicians of the Quarantine Regulation that prohibits any gathering larger than ten persons at any given time (MONTERO COVID VO STARTS) In responding to the public on the event the Police Commissioner noted, quote, “Upon hearing of that gathering yesterday, I directed that it be dealt with swiftly and the OC in San Ignacio did address it; albeit not the way I had expected. I agree with all that the political parties need to lead by example. In this time it is extremely difficult for us to be running behind big people like children trying to get them to do what they know they are to do. Nonetheless we will keep monitoring the political climate with a view to adequately address any breach that they may commit.” End of quote.
