And while Clavel is alive, a Guatemalan residing in the Stann Creek District suffered the same fate as his superior. Fifty-eight-year-old Mario Diaz was knocked off his bicycle sometime after five-forty yesterday evening near the Maya King area on the Southern Highway. According to ASP Yearwood, after intense searches, one woman has been detained in relation to the accident.
ACP Fitzroy Yearwood, Director of Communications: “About 5:40 yesterday evening police visited an area on the Southern Highway in the vicinity of Maya King around mile 21 or 22 where they saw a 58 year old Mario Diaz suffering from head and body injuries. His bicycle was not too far from him. Our initial investigation revealed that he was hit by a black pickup. We did intensive search in the area where the vehicle was located in Silk Grass Village. A female was detained for that accident and the pickup had damages that would be consistent in a road traffic accident. We will have more on that because our investigation into that matter is still young so hopefully by the end of today we can give you some more details on it.”
The suspect has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
