Police have been able to charge one man in relation to last week’s shooting that resulted in the death of 23-year-old, Carrel Sanchez, however, the charges are not for Sanchez’s fatal shooting. On Friday, one of the alleged gunmen who accompanied Sanchez, twenty-one-year-old Chervin Tench was charged for illegal guns and ammunition. Tench is believed to be one of four men that opened fire on a group of residents last Monday, at a home in Locke’s alley. The men had been pursued by police in the area resulting in Tench being caught red-handed with a loaded pistol. The incident had resulted in, 25-year-old, Devon Tillett and 18-year-old, Deandre Williams, residents of Locke’s Alley being shot to the body. However, police have not charged anyone for their injuries as Tench was only charged with two counts of kept firearms without a gun license and two counts of kept ammunition without a license. It’s a perplexing ordeal that today our newsroom asked Police Spokesman Fitzroy Yearwood to comment on. Here is how he responded.
Notably, in court Tench pleaded not guilty to the charged and was remanded to prison until May 9 when he is due back in court.
