There were two separate shootings that occurred in Rural Belize Distict over the weekend. The first one occurred in Biscayne Village at miles 26 ¾ miles on the Phillip Goldson Highway. The victim was thirty four year old David Richard Taylor. Taylor reported to police that an unknown vehicle came into his yard and open fired at him, one of which caught him in the chest. Inspector Juanito Cocom of Ladyville Police Station briefed the media this morning on the incident.
“Ladyville CIB responded to a distress call at mile 36 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, Biscayne Village and when they arrived they observed in the living room of a concrete Bungalow Dwelling Structure a clear descent male person with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest. Richard Taylor, 43 year old Belizean Laborer of 36 Phillip Goldson Highway reported that when he was at home alone a white SUV type vehicle drove into his narrow driveway and whilst he was approaching the vehicle two persons came out of the vehicle, a fair skinned person and a dark skinned person who was armed with what appeared to be a pistol. They ordered him to get on the ground, he refused to go on the ground and grabbed the pistol and a struggle ensued where a shot went off. He received a shot to his chest and he was transported to the KHMH by police. His condition is stated as stable. The scene was processed and the matter is under investigation.”
Taylor remains at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. Police believes that the motive was burglary.
