Has the departure of the Director of the DYS impacted the multisectoral approach to tackling crime ?
While the LIU continues to work toward the reduction of crime and violence, it suffered yet another blow with the loss of the Director of Youth Services, Kevin Cadle. The career public officer worked closely with the late William Dawson and played a significant role in the development of various youth programs. However, Cadle recently resigned amid a cloud of accusations relating to his academic qualifications. Given Cadle’s sudden departure from the DYS, which works closely with the LIU, our newsroom asked Dr. Rosado, an LIU executive member, if the organization was affected.
Dr.Richard Rosado, Deputy Commissioner of Police: “Losing certain individuals like William Dawson and even Kevin Cadle to some extent have a significant impact on our efforts because their insight, their views, their drive in addressing crime and criminality from a collaborative front was something huge and I think it will take us some time because both individuals have their philosophy and their vision in how to address crime and criminality. And in addressing crime and criminality we need all view points and the collaborative efforts from everybody. And I’m sure that we will eventually transition to where we want to go but these individuals will surely be missed.”
Cadle had been working with the Department of Youth Services for several years, and was promoted to Director in 2021.
