Hattieville Resident Remanded on Attempted Murder Charge

Hattieville resident, twenty-eight-year-old Akeem Agustus has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison on a charge of attempted murder. Agustus appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged in connection with the shooting of another Hattieville man, twenty-five-year-old Tyler Lewis. Bail was denied and Augustus was remanded until October 2. Tyler Lewis was shot on the night of July 23. He was at home when someone called out to him and when he answered the door he was shot in the abdomen and grazed to the chest. Agustus’s mother, 58-year-old Loretta Smith, says that she hopes the police conduct a thorough investigation, as they have proof her son was out with relatives celebrating his birthday at the time the incident occurred.
