Hattieville resident wants the village’s checkpoint to be reinstalled

The mother of 51-year-old Leroy Mckoy, the man whose body was found in a shallow grave off the highway in Hattieville Village, is pleading with the police for the village’s checkpoint to be reinstalled. In October, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, shut down the vehicular checkpoint after the assigned officers were accused of extorting the public. According to Radiance Mckoy, the area is extremely dark at night and the checkpoint is needed to provide peace of mind to residents in the area.
