Hawkesworth Bridge Maintenance: Six-Month Closure Begins May 2

The Hawkesworth Bridge in San Ignacio/Santa Elena will be closing for six months for maintenance.  The announcement came this morning from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development indicating that the closure will be from May 2 through to November 2.  It is a temporary closure that will allow the ministry to conduct critical maintenance and repairs to the structural elements on the deck and walkway.  Love News understands that apart from the repairs, the ministry will also be improving on the support structure of the bridge.  In the interim, the Macal Bridge will be used to facilitate motorists entering and exiting the twin towns.
