As we reported on Wednesday, asylum seekers, refugees and migrants living in Belize will now be able to be vaccinated. The announcement was made by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness. We asked Minister Michel Chebat about it.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness:“I don’t know that they’re yet being vaccinated. The position though is that they are in our country, they live here and when their age group qualifies or if they qualify under one of the comorbidities or one of the phases they too will qualify to get the vaccine.”
Reporter: How many asylum seekers would you say qualify so far ?
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “I don’t have an exact number.”
