Last Friday we told you of the action that the staff of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City would be taking after they were brought into the circle of public officers who would be getting a salary raise. Their decision was to go-slow; meaning that specialist clinics would be put on pause and elective services were being postponed. However, considering that the facility is the national referral medical institution, officials including the Minister of Health, Pablo Marin met with the hospital’s management. Following that meeting, Marin emerged saying all is well at the KHMH.
As you heard, Minister Marin has said that a press release would be forthcoming and when that does come about, we will be updating on the current situation surrounding the hospital staff and their salaries.
