Health Ministry Fixes Cooling Issue at Punta Gorda Morgue After Public Outcry

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) says it has addressed a temperature issue at the Punta Gorda morgue that led to several complaints from the public. Yesterday, residents from the southern municipality alleged that the facility was not functioning, forcing them to expedite funeral plans for their loved-ones. The families also claimed that the situation was leading to their loved-ones bodies decomposing. However, while the morgue’s air conditioning unit was not fully functional, the ministry says the facility was still operational. Our newsroom spoke with Dr. Jorge Polanco, Director of Hospital Services, who indicated that the issue has been rectified.  

Polanco added that the facility’s air conditioning unit is scheduled to be repaired.
