The country’s electricity consumption has surpassed its expected demand for this week due to an uptick in the temperatures, according to Belize Electricity Limited (BEL). BEL informs consumers that due to the high increase in electricity usage, they are preparing to alleviate foreseen power outages. These sudden outages might occur within the next twelve days. This is due to the high demand for power and the sudden unavailability of power from the power plant operated by Blair Athol power company limited (BAPCOL). BAPCOL is going under urgent maintenance services and is the primary backup if BEL’s Gas Turbine and CFE supplies are lost.
