David Hilmar Alamilla is a free man tonight. Back in 2017, the Orange Walk Businessman was charged with the murder of 24-year-old Daniel Sosa. Sosa was shot dead in July while he was in Alamilla’s car, and his body was dumped in front of the D’Victoria Hotel parking lot. Sosa was in the company of Alamilla and two other men when he was fatally shot. One of the key eyewitnesses was Gustavo Hernandez, who was murdered months later. The second witness reportedly went into hiding. Investigators strongly believe that it was Alamilla who pulled the trigger, killing Sosa following a verbal disagreement between them. But Alamilla’s attorneys, Richard Bradley and Leeroy Banner, found holes in the prosecution’s case and filed a ‘no case submission’, asking the court to rule that Alamilla had no case to answer to. Justice Herbert Lord heard arguments last week, and this evening, he upheld the no-case submission. Bradley spoke to Love News via telephone this evening.
Director of Public Prosecution, Cheryl Lynn Vidal, told Love News (quote) “We are analyzing the judgment with a view towards determining whether the decision of the judge should be appealed”.
